Yonex Nanoray 800 Badminton Racket In-depth Review (Best for and Why)

Want to know more about Nanoray 800?

Here’s the point:

I have had many opportunities to play against a few of the pros, giving me the chance to test out their racquets and find out why they use those specific racquets.

After testing out a couple of racquets, I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity with the Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4. I could not wait to get my hands on it.

I might seem like a fairly expensive racquet, but thanks to some of the features, it is probably worth it.

That being said, here is your Yonex Nanoray 800 Review

Yonex Nanoray 800

Features

While many of the top badminton racquets now have the same features which only differ slightly, choosing between them can be quite tricky. The Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4 is certainly packed with a couple of great features and here are the features that I found to be most prominent during the testing process.

Materials

Made from graphite, this racquet is undoubtedly at the top when it comes to durability. It features an Aero frame structure that varies in thickness from top to bottom, ensuring that the power has been perfectly spread across the racquet and giving the user what we would call a perfect sweet spot.

Sonic Metal is quite durable and has been used throughout the racquet, reducing the weight and increasing the power that makes so much of a difference as you start tiring out during a match. The titanium alloy used in the frame adds that hint of flexibility, making it possible to play scraping shots of the floor without snapping the racquet.

Weight

Depending on the size you choose, the racquet will vary concerning weight. It features a maximum weight that is still underneath the 3-ounce mark. This makes it easy to play with for beginners and advanced players at the professional level. However, I do think it might be a little overpriced for beginners of casual players who are not playing on a regular basis.

Design

The Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4 features a slim design and a longer shaft than you will see in many of the cheaper racquets. At first, I had to adjust my game somewhat to accommodate this longer shaft and I was missing some of the simplest shots, but after a little practice, one does get used to it.

This longer shaft helps add more leverage to the racquet, making it much better when it comes to rebound and reaching some of the trickier shots. After playing a couple of rounds, the racquet seemed to be in tune with my wrist and shot were coming off much better, without putting any strain on my wrist when trying to change the direction of the badminton.

Would I recommend Yonex Nanoray 800 or not?

If it was possible to give this racquet a score out of 10, I would probably give it an 8.5. It has all the features you would expect in a top of the range racquet, but playing with it does take some practice and you might also need to adjust your game somewhat. The longer shaft can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

After playing around with the Yonex 900 and its superior control, the Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4 will require you to adapt your game somewhat. However, it is a little cheaper than the Yonex 900 and should be more adept for intermediate players trying to break into the bigger leagues and making a name for them.

Who should buy Yonex Nanoray 800?

The Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4 is designed for virtually any sporting enthusiast that is looking to enjoy a few games of badminton. It might be a little too expensive for beginners, but with it, your game should see a significant improvement.

In general, I would recommend this to the intermediate badminton player looking to make a name for him or herself. A mentioned before, I did need to adjust my game somewhat, and I am by no means anywhere near a professional player, but after a couple of rounds, you will get the hang of the racquet and find yourself playing better shots than you could ever have imagined.

Alternative Products

Yonex Nanoray 900 Badminton Racquet

The Yonex Nanoray 900 Badminton Racquet is a little stiffer and does not have the same flex. It is made from the same quality materials and will be better suited for the more advanced badminton player. In my personal experience, I have found it to offer much more regarding control to users at an advanced level.

Yonex Nanoray 750 (Unstrung) Badminton Racquet

The Yonex Nanoray 750 (Unstrung) Badminton Racquet is the cheaper version, with basically the same features. It does not have the same length shaft and should be ideal for beginners to intermediate players. One thing I did find quite intriguing is the quality of the paint job and this racquet certainly does look like a professional racquet.

Conclusion

As one of the top badminton racquets, the Yonex Nanoray 800-FLASH BLUE-4UG4 is also one of my favorites. The racquet is highly rated and even though it is expensive, it does offer great value for the money.
